Weightloss Plateau...

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions for all you guys that are post op...

I see a lot of ppl posting about what they eat even as early as a few days post op. I'm soon to be 9 weeks post op and I just begain to eat "real" food about 2 weeks ago. But seems like when I eat I either dnt lose weight or I will gain back a pound. Vs. When i was on my liquid diet I was dropping weight like crazy. The problem is now I actually get hungry :/

I usually will eat an egg for dinner with some crumbled fat free feta cheese. I'm not sure what the problem is. But I been at -52 lbs for about a week and a half.

I know it is frustrating, but plateaus do and will happen. You have averaged nearly 6 pounds a week so far. Your body is just saying "Hey... let me catch up" How many calories are you eating a day? Are you getting your Protein and Water?

I'm not exactly sure how many calories I intake a day. My Dr. Told me to concentrate on carbs and the amount each food contains. And to stay away from them! LOL

I do take my Protein shakes and drink Water all day long.

I am only about 4 weeks (march 21st surgery date) post op and I haven't lost any weight in a week. Not since I started eating real food. Maybe an ounce or 2. Its quite frustrating because I'm eating properly. Getting my Protein in as well as exercising. WTF???? Should I have hit a plateau this early in the game? This is extremely discouraging...should I call the nutritionist?

Sad in Toledo: (

Hi Panda, I totally understand your frustration. I would probably call the nutritionist, it won't hurt. I am afraid that when I start mushies this week that I won't lose weight anymore, or it will at least slow way down. But, I know that I can't live on a liquid diet forever.

Yes, you should!!!!

I was driving myself crazy about my weight. I actually left a support group in tears because I was not losing and I was getting so depressed sitting and listening to people happy about how well they were doing.

I had my husband hide the scale, and I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel. What a relief!!!! I still am not losing any better, but at least the mental anguish and feelings of failure are gone.

Oh boy! I'm gonna do the same. It is torturous! :(

I hear ya. I asked my husband to hide the scale 3 nights in a row. 3 mornings in a row it was still there. Finally I told him "I'm gonna throw that lying piece of electronic crap off the deck" His reply??? "Just don't step on it"

Really?????????

If I could have stopped on my own I would have.

Now it's hidden.

And I feel better.

:D

It's so funny there reaction to things that are so "simple" to THEM, yet so stressful to us women. Sometimes they just dnt understand.

Boys will be boys :/

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
