Well, I am home and healing up now. All in all the procedure went well but I do have a difficult time with anesthesia. My stomach is a little numb to the touch and I only have pain in one incision location. It feels like the tissue is pulling against the stomach wall causing pain but it is tolerable. I am getting my liquids in and drinking around 8oz per hour to stay on track.

My hospital stay was good up until the last day of stay...I Had a very difficult time with the nurse not responding to calls or delivering my meds on time. I called her on a lie in front of her supervisor and she did not respond to any calls the remainder of the day...basically just ignored me. I ended up having to walk the halls to track her down to get my pain meds 2hr after they were due...twice. They were supposed to give me pain meds prior to removing my drain and she failed to do so. Once the drain was removed she just walked out...about five minutes later liquid was pouring out of my drain site and my gound, pants and one piece of gause that she left me was soaked. I paged her and she failed to respond again. I finally walked to the nurses station to get a towel and some gause to clean myslef up where she was sitting there with here feet up saying how busy she was...I lost it then. I actually had to call my doctor to let him know I was not getting any care so he decided to have them kick me home. On the prep fro the trip home I asked her to call my pharmacy to make sure they could fill my prescription due to the narcotic not being able to be filled. She came back stating it was all good and they would fill it when I arrived. Well after the 2hr drive home the pharmacist stated he told the nurse on the phone they absolutely could not fill the script and he called around town and nobody had the med and could not get it for over a week...I hate being lied to. I will be discussing this level of care with my program director next week...it was just unexcusable.

The day of the surgery my wife decided to go to lunch after I was settled in my room and got in a wreck in my brand new truck...she is fine....for now. I know she feels worse about the whole thing than I do.

I am home and healing fine, already going stir crazy with cabin fever though...more to come.

Sorry to hear that you were treated so terribly. I'm glad your home and doing well. I would definitely report her. What if that was her family member she probably would've been raising hell. Sounds like she's in the wrong profession. again good luck on your recovery and I hope you don't ever have to deal with her again. My date is April 23rd. I'm getting excited. I pray I don't have to go through what you went through.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
