I'm 16 abd had my gastric bypass on the 16th of January. I have already lost around 4 stone. When I first had it done I could barely eat but started to introduce new foods. Now, an average day is ;

Breakfast - 2 slices of brown toast with no crust

Later after Breakfast - a yoghurt and a packet snack a jacks.

lunch - a full tin of Soup

Tea- 3 chicken nuggets, 2 pieces of brocolli/roast potato

Before bed - a yoghurt

I am concerned that I'm eating too much and I don't have much variation in my diet at the minute. I don't really monitor calories and like I said, I'm concerned I'm eating too much. Does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks, Emma

Other than the chicken where is your Protein? You should try and watch your calories. If you don't as time goes by you risk consuming more calories than you should. My nutritionist set me at a calorie range to aimi for and I have had to learn how to develope my diet to focus on Protein intake and low calorie eating.

Remember the surgery is a tool to help you learn a healthy lifestyle.

Good luck on your journey.

I go for Protein first. liquid egg whites, Greek fat free sugar free yogurt with just a few frozen berries and Splenda, natural Peanut Butter or sun butter on whole wheat sandwich round-toasted, the pouches of tuna are great on the go and white albacore is high in protein. Tilapia seasoned with lemon pepper and baked/broiled. Turkey breast is one of the highest protein counts too. Use a digital scale or measuring cup and DOCUMENT every meal, Water and meds. I have been very lucky in that only lactose is an issue. I do introduce new foods Only when I know I can be home. I do not eat bread daily, just 1-2 times a week. No rice or Pasta unless whole wheat and that is rare. Spaghettis squash is a great alternative and tastes great with meat sauce. I had surgery January 27th and at times weight loss is slow but it is steady and I exercise 5 days or more a week. Mainly walking and yard work. GEt up moving and unleSs you can meet protein need first, leave the fillers alone.

This is my 2nd time to have the surgery . I first time was 16yrs ago. But at any rate bread and potatos and chicken nuggets are big no no. Try to no eat anything white ie:bread, rice, potatoes and try not to eat any fried food. I think you will loose more weight and feel better.

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
