So I thought I had it all down yesterday, I had 60g Protein, 64 oz Water, took all my Vitamins, B12, calcit...but today I've been sooo nauseas all day long. I drank a light muscle milk, ate a Jello, and just had a few bites of cream of wheat. Everytime I sip water I feel like I'm going to throw up. Its the tiniest sips too. I have no fever. Throughout the night I woke up in a large amount of pain in my left side where one of my incisions is. It felt like someone was stabbing me and twisting the blade. Please help. Does these feelings go away?

Always call your surgeon 1st and see what they think. I had horrible lower left side pain for days after my surgery and also on my right where they took out my gallbladder. I guess everything is just sore from being moved around. I know also when I need to have a bowel movement I will get stomach pains/cramps so it could be just gas or that you need to have a bowel movement!

Yes gas pain and pressure can be monsterous! I just found out today that i have to switch to Lactaid as opposed to skim milk because im lactose intolerant. Milk has alot of Protein so i was using skim milk in the Protein Shakes instead of Water and it was causing alot if gas and pain. They said its not uncommon for ryn patients to be or become lactose intolerant. Walking has helped alot to ease gas pain and pressure. Now that i know there will be no regular milk for me!:)....yogurt and aged cheese they say is alot lower in lactose....looking forward to having yogurt again in the near future! Yay! Never really liked milk anyway

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
