Can you guys post your height too? Just gives a better frame of reference for us newbies. Thanks!

5' 9" Used to be about a foot taller but that stuff about shrinking with age - not a rumor! ;)

Im 5'6" started off at 285 and had my surgery on 5/18/2011. 2 days will be my year and I'm currently 173! It is a long road with ups and downs, but it was all worth it! I feel great!

Panda have no fear I've been at a couple plateaus and it's annoying but it's worth it because I find that once the plateau is done for I start loosing faster! I normally loose about 5-6 lbs a week but during a plateau I only loose 1-2 lbs a week, but I'm happy with any weight loss because before surgery I could barely loose 5 lbs. in a month!

Same for me Panda. I always tell folks that sometimes you lose quickly, sometimes slowly and sometimes not at all. As long as you stay focused on following the protocol, you will succeed. Congratulations!!

Wow - great, great job Maria!! I love success stories. Does it feel like the year went by in a blur? I'm just amazed how fast the time has gone by since I started this journey. Amazing.

Thank you! It did go by very quickly! I remember at first when I was recovering and just starting to eat, the days were so long!! But now I'm basically back to normal, except the portions I eat are still small, of coarse!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
