I keep hearing everyone talk about the pre op diet. My dietician that works directly with my surgeon told me I didn't have to do it because my bmi wasnt past the range where thdy make u do it. Plus they said that after all of the pre op testing that I had that my liver looked really good not REAL fatty. My question is has anyone had the surgery without the pre op diet? Oh there is an exercise regiment thst I've had to adhere to for 2 weeks pre surgery. By the way I'm 5'7" and 285 lbs

The nervousness is completely normal reaction especially since its a surgery that your waiting on and are anxious about. I haven't had any surgeries except for 2 c-sections and I don't feel like those are surgeries because I wasn't actually put to sleep then. I did have a couple surgeries on my lungs because of bilateral pneumonia but I was never awake before them to get nervous. I got so nervous the morning of my rny that I second guessed myself and said to my mom omg what am I doing and then said to her should I really do this! And boy am I glad I did I feel so much better about myself and pyschically my body feels so much better even with just almost 50 pounds gone!!! I wish you all the best and can't to see you guys progress pics in the future!!!

Yeah i still have some discomfort but they tell me the more i move around the better. Also i dont let the pain meds wear off so that i can keep moving. I take 1/2 of a Vicodin and it does the job. Thanks for your support

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
