I am headed back to work today. I'm so nervous! I am a restaurant manager and so I'm on my feet 90 percent of my day. I have been off of work for 9 weeks now, and not sure my body will last for 10 hours on my feet. I feel like as soon as I walk into the building a 200 pound weight is about to go back on my shoulders and I'll be overwhelmed with catching back up. I hate anxiety! Well any thoughts or advice on how to get through would be nice. Ok wish me luck!

Good luck going back to work today. I would say try to take mini breaks throughout the day. Try to think positive, like how much less weight you are carrying around with you now! :-)

Well day one went ok. Decided about five minutes after being there that I'm just not going to get caught up on nine weeks of work all in one day. So after that it was a bit less stressful. Everyone was excited to have me back which was nice, but I don't think I can get used to the comments and compliments. It's hard to accept them sometimes. I just wish people would not speak about how I look, just ask how I feel. I think because I did this more for health reasons (hopefully to come off insulin for my diabetes) and it was never about the way I looked, it's hard to accept the comments/compliments about my looks. Does that make sence at all? But anyways day one, success.

Glad to hear your first day back to work went well. Sorry to hear that you are uncompfortable with the compliments you are receiving....those are the signs that you are working hard and have committed to change to a more healthy lifestyle :). A lady at the bariatric seminar that I attended as a prerequisite to surgery stated how much more friendly people are when you are less offensive to their eyes! Lol. I always hear things like "oh her face is really pretty" or "you're pretty for a big girl"....i cant wait to hear those words without some reference to my size taking away from the compliment! Do u have any b4 & after pics? My Dr. suggested taking a pic every few weeks so that you can see the changes.

I did not take pictures or measurements but now I wished I had. Everyone keeps saying I don't look like the same person, wish I could see that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
