aleyampat 22 Posted March 3, 2012 I am a brand new member to this forum. I am going to have my gastric bypass surgery very soon. My surgeon's office sent the paperwork to my insurance company for approval. I know they'll approve but it's now a waiting game:( I'm excited, scared, anxious, elated, and a whole bunch more adjectives!! Looking forward to getting to know everyone and gain what I feel to be a very important support system!!

aleyampat 22 Posted March 9, 2012 Just heard from docs office. EGD on April 17th. Nutrition counseling on April 24th. We will schedule on the 24th of April:) So I'm looking at a beginning of June date. I'm excited and a little upset. I was really hoping for April surgery. Ah well. At least Insurance approved and we are again moving forward.

Tor 11 Posted April 11, 2012 Had my surgery 25 hours ago. worst problem is the gas. This is used in the abdomen cavity. This has to be absorbed and it presses against the diaphram etc giving pain in places like the shoulders. However ordinary pain killers help and moving around helps, especially after the first 12-24 hours. Hey all in all its not a total walk in the park but its over quickly and we can all see the long term benefits. Peppermint tea is brilliant to help dispell gas and make your mouth feel fresh. 24 hours from my op I had clear chicken Soup and had no problems, in fact loved it. Good luck, ask if anything. else need to know.
