Washington State Usa

I just moved to Spokane from the Seattle area. I had my sleeve in 8/28/14. I've lost 78 lbs so far. I would love to go to a support group.

@@GenaH,

I will look around this weekend at home. I have a list of state wide support. They are a combination of hospitals, surgical centers, overeater's anonymous meetings and a few informal ones.

There is also a Washington State Bariatrics Group on Facebook:

Hi. I'm in the very early stages. Just a few weeks into my 6 months supervised weigh loss requirement. Is everyone else already post surgery? Or is the support group for someone anywhere in the process? I live north of Seattle in Lake Stevens, WA.

I wanted to say hello to everyone. I live in Arizona right now and will be having my surgery here. But at the beginning of 2016 we'll be moving to the Seattle area. So I thought it'd be fun to find some buddies in Washington and hopefully attend your support groups when I get up there.

I'm waiting for my surgery to be scheduled, but I imagine I'll be having my bypass in late August/early September.

Gina

Gina1209, see my post above about the Washington State Bariatric Facebook page. We just had a beach bonfire meetup that was very successful and other meet ups to come.

I'm here in Bellingham, grew up in Everett, and jumping through all the hoops to have the bypass surgery. It was supposed to be January 2017, but was just informed by the social worker at UWMC that I need to schedule my back surgery before the bariatric surgery. I feel like my "pause button" has just been pushed, and I'm reaching out because I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of being stuck in a rut...

Anyone know of any meetings in the Whatcom County area???

I have not gone to a support group, no. I can see where this would be helpful a little later down the line. I'm only two weeks out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
