JustFluffy 122 Posted July 24, 2011 Okay - I will be honest. The biggest thing that scares the hell out of me for surgery is the thought of liquid hell. I will have two days pre-op liquid-hell then weeks post op. I guess this is more of a gripe than anything, mainly because I loathed it when I banded. I'm planning on doing broths, sugar-free Jello, sugar-free popcicles...anyone have any suggestions? I know how serious this stage is for healing...I mentally am trying to prepare myself and keep from getting bored as well.
salsa1877 10 Posted July 30, 2011 I did lots of blended pinto bean Soup. I ended up having an allergic reaction to whey and soy Protein and didn't want to try any others so I literally drank Beans for almost a week and a half straight! I also got the cheap version of the magic bullet at Wal-Mart and made a lot of my own Soups. I was so sick of liquids as I had been on those and mushies for several months before surgery becuse of band issues.
mgray1024 0 Posted August 11, 2011 Hey there...I totally get the whole liquid hell piece! Today was day 1 of my 14 day semi liquid diet.....I have to say that I probably didn't eat as much as I should have but it was a struggle. Right now, I'm just counting down....14 more days to go. Which seems crazy but at least after the surgery, I'll be able to have more flavors. Right now, I'm stuck to 6 things. I had the nectar Lemon Tea Protein shake today....Yea, I won't have that again unless I drink it from a straw. The chocoloate powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury was pretty good. Especially if the milk was super cold. The other thing that I can say is my energy level today isn't what it's been. I'm sure it's just adjusting. I'm off to eat a sugar free pudding and then its bedtie for me! When is your surgery? Driver Deb 10 Posted September 10, 2011 You are lucky... I would love a pre op diet of Clear Liquids for 2 days. My pre op diet is lose 10% of my body weight. That's on a 1200 calorie diet. I have 29 pounds to lose before surgery.
JustFluffy 122 Posted October 1, 2011 I can tell I haven't been on here in a while - sorry about that guys! Liquid hell pre-op was hell, liquid hell post-op was hell...I'm now two months (from today) post-op! Feeling really good and on regular foods now. How's everyone doing out there? LosingItForMe2011 320 Posted October 18, 2011 two days before of liquids? I WISH! I'll have to do two weeks of liquids with just one regular meal well if you call their small list of choices regular. HAHAHA Still I know it's for good reason...need to get that liver fat down so they surgery goes smoother.
JustFluffy 122 Posted October 18, 2011 My surgeon does his revisions as "Open" Surgery, so I think that is why the two days liquid diet. The two days is to ensure the tummy and intestines are empty for surgery. Surgeons preference I guess...although Liquid Hell that follows for a few weeks still isn't a picnic..nice for the restriction though :-) Which is a blessing... KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted January 24, 2012 I am on the full liquid diet after my surgery I have to be on it for 2 weeks.....tomorrow will be the big day where I can move on to other foods, soft foods....thank god!!! I am cheating tonight though lol I'm gonna try macaroni, I swear I feel like I am starving and now I have a headache from it that won't go away!
bmooney364 30 Posted February 3, 2012 I am glad to find this topic. I remember post lapband liquid hell, I could not tolerate it more than one week due to severe diarrhea. I was drinking lowcarb no sugar added Protein Drinks and I guess the sugar alcohol or whatever they sweeten them with did not agree with me. Anyways I had to start mushies a few days early. I don;t guess that I will be able to do that with the RNY so I am glad to see the suggestions for different liquids esp. Salas for the liquid bean Soup.< /p>

KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm really able to eat anything now with the exception of onions, Tomato sauce (for spaghetti or ketchup), and chicken....other than that I seem to be able to tolerate everything else.....it gets better....believe me just try to not eat big bites, chew alot, and if it seems like it's making your pouch hurt don't eat anymore of it....basically that is what the chicken does to me, it weighs my pouch down and it hurts ALOT! diddle106 71 Posted March 19, 2012 Ditto about the chicken!!!
KevinsBabyGirl85 364 Posted March 19, 2012 Glad I'm not the only one that has had that problem with chicken
trynagain 0 Posted March 20, 2012 It's weird to hear chicken hurts your pouch. When I had the lapband if I couldn't tolerate anything I could tolerate chicken. But it seems a lot of people with gastric bypass has trouble with chicken. Are you able to eat bread and salads. What does Tomato sauce do to you. I can't wait until liquids for me are done. I have 3 more weeks then its on to pureed food. Have you guys ate baby food at all. I've been having a lot of cravings like meatballs, pizza ,salads, gyros, I guess everything lol.
