What Vitamins Are You Taking?

Recommended Posts

Bariatric Advantage:

Multivitamin chewable

Iron chewable

sublingual B12

Calcium chew x3

Omega chew

And a b12 shot from my doctor every 2 months.

What is the Omega chew and what is it for?

Does it get any easier to take all your Vitamins? I'm 3 weeks post op and they're grossing me out. I bought all the good ones from Bariatric Advantage' date=' but I feel like gagging when I eat them.[/quote']

Ask your nutritionist or surgeon for samples. Mine had a sample pack containing about 30 supplements from about 5 or 6 brands. You could always crush them on a spoon of yogurt.

Yes it gets easier. I take all of mine with no problem. You get tired of taking them. But this is what we have to do. I'm three months post op. good luck.

I get B12 injections once a month...I take 1 prenatal Vitamin every night at bedtime. I do liquid Calcium 3x daily ( wellese) which also had Vitamin D in it. The prenatals work wonders. No longer have anemia because of them.

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk

I had really low Vit D & B12 and I am pre op. Could there be a chance they won't do surgery bc of it? I was taking weekly B12 injections and 15,000iu oc Vit D daily.

For a multivitamin with Iron included I think I'm going to order these. Only one a day and it's chewable and cheap. http://www.procarenow.com/Chewable-One-A-Day-Bariatric-Multi-Vitamin--30-ct_p_10002.html

For Calcium citrate...has anyone tried this? http://www.procarenow.com/UPCAL-D-Powdered-Calcium-20-oz-can_p_10055.html I wonder if it really is tasteless. Would be great to just mix this with a Protein Shake or flavored water.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
