Tbeiley 2 Posted April 18, 2012 My doc recommends Bariatric Advantage Vitamins, you can find them on line. It does seem pricey but the chewable flavors seem to taste good and it gives you high % of the Vitamins that you need. I buy a sublingual B12 2500 from costco which is also on coupon this week. Under $12 for 260. In cherry flavor. Yum. Another friend of mine who is a gastric patient takes regular vitaminD 5000 IU in those little oil or gel tablets. ( the ones that look like a bead) In fact she buys ALL her vitamins from costco.< /p> But she has a different doc than I. I take a chewable multi Vitamin 2x a day (French vanilla is awesome from BA) and calcium citrate In 500 mg chewable tablets for a total of 1500 mg a day. (i switch with mint and cherry) BA has some awesome chewy chews also so occasionally I will have a caramel chew instead at 250 mg each chew. Need to take a B complex and that is in pill or capsule form and Water soluble for easy absorption. Also from BA. And then everyone's favorite Iron. 18-30 mg a day. I chose a passion fruit chewable at 29 mg. And also ordered a chocolate raspberry truffle chewy to switch off with. Not all vitamins are created equal, check out Bariatric Advantage for the nutrition contents and compare to what's out there. Not much beats or meets them in % and taste. Several people have told me to never go cheap on your vitamins. You want to mAke sure you take them, so get it tasty and convenient. And stay away from the ones with extra sugars too.. Hope that helps some. Tracy B - just waiting on my approval from insurance and then surgery anytime within the next 2-3 wks for me.. : ) 1 tonyabuntin reacted to this
chaotica 96 Posted April 18, 2012 My doc told me I could pick up a one month supply of chewable bariatric Vitamins called Optisourse at Walmart or Walgreens for 28$! And she was right! Also, Walmart has wonderful prices on all their vitamins. 1 morena reacted to this

If not for my insurance covering this surgery I wouldn't be able to offord it. Even if it's a dollar at a time I'm trying to save for plastic surgery for after weight lost. The list of Vitamin I will be taking that I bought from costco are as follow. Multivitamin 1 tablet twice a day calcium citrate 1500mg (500mg 3 times a day) sublingual Vitamin B12 1 tablet once a day Iron 18mg once daily I don't know if anything else will be added after the actual surgery. Also calcium citrate will be on sale next week again till 6/3/12 so costco I will see you soon Lolz... 1 morena reacted to this
ferrcatmom 7 Posted June 6, 2012 Ladies, if there is one thing I cannot stress enough is the importance of Calcium now that you are really unable to absorb it like a normal person. At 6 years out I went in for a routine bone scan and I have SEVERE OSTEOPEROSIS with fracture risks. I am 43 and finally in good enough shape to do activities I never could but now can't do things because of fear of breaking a bone. I have been to 3 specialists in different fields and they all pretty much chalk it up to the GBP. I am now taking roughly 6,000mg of Ca, 15,000u vit D, magnesium and vit K per day. I've been told that those numbers will be going up. PLEASE TAKE AS MUCH calcium citrate AND VIT D as your doc will allow. I don't want others to end up like me, and there are lots of us out there!
