Has anyone had a VSG with Dr. Roslin in the last few months? Can you tell me what to expect? Pre op exams? How many office visits? Experience at Lenox Hill? Around how much the total cost would be for self pay?

i can't tell yo anything about cost but I can tell you that you selected the best as far as surgeons go. I Had my surgery on October 4th and was walking 5 hours later and have been feeling really good.

I'm working with Dr. Yatco. It just so happened that I could not meet with Dr. Roslin on the day he was available so I saw Yatco. I liked his manner and thought he was very patient and thorough with the info given. I am still in the process of getting my medical stuff together. I did the nutrition class and one on one with Sharon, did the psych eval, I got the support letter from pcp, and I'm working with my pcp to do the six month weight history. Throughout this, I've found a lot of the staff at Lenox to be informative enough but not very warm. I have decided that I don't need warm. I need efficient and that they seem to be.

I'd love to follow along with you on your journey as well since we're going to be doing it at the same hospital. I'm hoping I'm close to submitting everything and would sooo love to get the surgery before the year ends. We'll see how it all goes.

:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
