Losing in MOST places

Recommended Posts

Anyone's advice is appreciated. So far I have lost approx. 30 lbs...all in my butt, boobs, arms and legs. Nothing seems to be coming off of my stomach (upper and lower abs). I have been exercising (somewhat)!!. What are you all doing to lose the belly pooch?? I don't need a Tummy Tuck, just some really good ways to get rid of the stomach flab.

Stomach crunches.

That torturous thing where you lie on your back and hold your legs 6 inches off the ground, for as long as you can.

If you like horses, take English riding lessons and spend as much time as you can, trotting. Both posting (and sitting - if done the right way), will work out your stomach muscles. In a fun way.

More aerobic exercise, the only way to get a flat stomach is to burn the fat. But it will probably come off there last. I swear I dont ahve anywhere else left to lose weight except my upper abdomen, and since I havent been thin since I had babies, I'm not sure whether the pocket of fat I have there is a legacy of 3 pregnancies or not. But it will be getting sucked out if it doesnt disappear soon, lol!

I'd love to say I don't have anywhere else left to lose weight from but that's not my situation. However, I agree...that darn top belly roll wont go away! Urgh...it makes my darn shirts fit weird and it's embarassing!

I'd agree...the belly is the worst spot to lose from. It's really stubborn.

Right as usual, oh wise one! Crunches will not help you lose weight. But you might have really toned muscles under the fat.

Aerobic exercise is the way to go. Recent research:

Diet Plus Aerobic Exercise Reduces Abdominal Fat

The addition of aerobic exercise to a dietary weight-loss program can preferentially reduce abdominal fat in obese individuals, according to a new study.

Investigators studied the effect of a calorie-restricted diet plus low-intensity exercise, or diet plus high-intensity exercise, on 45 obese females an average 58 years of age. They measured body composition with height and weight, body mass index (BMI), waist and hip measurements, and diagnostic imaging.

During the study period, the participants purchased their own breakfasts in consultation with a dietitian and had lunch and dinner prepared by a hospital kitchen staff. One-third of the participants were told not to change their physical activity habits, one-third were put on a program of low-intensity exercise, and the remainder engaged in high-intensity aerobic exercise. Participants were followed for 20 weeks.

All three groups had reduced body weight and BMI, less body fat, and smaller waist and hip measurements. But participants in the high-intensity exercise group had smaller adipocyte size than those in the other groups. Considering the health risks linked to abdominal fat, the observation may be important for preventing and treating health conditions related to excess abdominal fat, the researchers write.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
