I've heard some people say that Dr. Lopez no longer works with A Lighter Me in Mexico. I am scheduled with him for October 22, getting a little worried about it now wondering if he's gonna be there as I really wanted him to do my surgery.

I am on the schedule for surgery with him in November. I am going through Mexico Bariatric Center. I know he also has his own company now, with his wife. This is the website for it - it lists a $4200 price now, which is a lot less than I'm paying through MBC. But I am going to stick with them, Christy my coordinator has done a huge amount of work & answered a million questions for me. http://specializedbariatrics.com/

I don't think he is with A lighter me any more, he isn't listed on their website. But maybe he will still do the surgery as you contracted with them / him specifically? I don't know. I think I would ask your coordinator that question, get it in writing. That or contact Dr. Lopez through his site, just to make sure.

Hello there

First off, I hope that your surgery went well. I'm thinking of having my band to sleeve revision with Dr. Lopez in Guadalajara and I was wondering what your experince was like. I would so much appreciate your feedback as I can't seem to finda as much info on this Dr as other Dr's in mexico.

Many thanks!

Dr Lopez did my sleeve 1/22/14 and I couldn't be happier. It was a very good experience. The staff and doctors were great, caring and attentive. I am 5 weeks out today and have done very well. Make use of the coordinator and the nutritionist, they are there for you to help and answer any questions that you might have. We live close so we just drove. Raul the driver is wonderful. They are all there to watch over you and take care of you, even when you are in the hotel. My weight loss has been slow and steady, and I am happy with that, I would like to avoid as much sag as possible. Hope this helps you. Good luck and enjoy your journey.

Hi byebyefatgirl! I'm getting sleeved w/Dr Lopez in Tijuana on Monday 3/3! I'm starting to get so nervous! My coordinator is Christy with Mexico Bariatric Center. Have you heard of her? I'm so scared and I didn't think I would be. Happy and excited but scared something horrible could go wrong. How are you feeling now that it's so close?

I had my gastric sleeve with Dr. Lopez on 3/3/14. All went really well. I felt like they truly cared and Dr. Lopez greeted me with a warm touch and smile each time he came to my room in the hospital. He allowed me to ask any and all questions. I especially liked how he didn't make me feel rushed like I needed to get all of my questions out at once. My experience with Dr. Lopez and his team was impressive. It was way better than I personally expected going into it. I would personally recommend Dr. Lopez to anyone who might be considering having any bariatric surgery.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
