I was laying on my back first night home but moving on my side took a few days and even then I supported my belly with a firm couch pillow.

Thanks in going to try it tonight I sleep with 2-3 pillows under my head anyways. I just laid flat my night 2 in the hospital and got all sorts of sick. Better night sleep ahead I hope!

When I got home I had to sleep propped up - like I was in the hospital, for about 8 days. After that, I could lay flat on my back, it took a few more days before I could comfortably lay on my side.

They didn't want me lying down at the hospital either. They had me propped up. I felt more comfortable in a recliner the first week. Afterwards, I went right to sleeping on my side in bed.

After surgery I got in a pretty heated discussion with my nurse (while still groggy from anesthesia) I was super nauseous and I wanted to lay flat because that always helps my stomach settle and she wouldn't let me!! She said it would make me more nauseous and then put a lock on my bed remote so that it wouldn't go down I was so pissed lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
