To sleeve or not to Sleeve?

My surgery is Oct. 7th which is Less than 48hrs. away and I am so ready, yet not so much. My grandfather has been in the hospital for a week now and Monday morning at 9am the doctors will be removing his breathing tube. We are all very optimistic that he will be able to breath on his own and be strong. But what if he doesn't make it? I will be a mess, no way I will be able to go "under the knife" with that on my mind.

Or If he is breathing on his own when I go to my surgery (which is at a different hospital, 1hr away) but something happens between when I see him that morning and the time I have to stay overnight in the hospital after my surgery.

I feel like I have been waiting forever for this surgery and I am really excited to get my new life started, but I'm wondering should I postpone. And if I do postpone will I want to go through with it later? I'm so torn.

That is a tough one but I am sure he would want you to be happy. You can talk to your surgeon. Also you will not be I'm the hospital long and will be able to walk but sore. Do what your heart tells you to do.

I agree I bet he would want you to have the surgery and be healthy and happy, he would not want you to postpone your surgery for him. Look at the bright side in a couple of days you will be walking into his room visiting him .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
