I have a question to all that have been sleeved or recently sleeved. Did you take pictures of yourself before just to know where you started and to say you came from point a to where you are now? I don't know that I want to take a picture of myself at my heaviest but the fact of knowing how far I've come would be cool I guess .. So picture or no picture ?!

I plan on doing this over the next few weeks up until my surgery on 11/1. I definitely want a reminder of where I came from. :) And I plan on taking pictures during my journey as I lose.

So are you going to do like one picture per week ?

Absolutely! I took pictures in a basic outfit that fit me at the time, and then I took pictures in a too tight outfit so that I could track the clothes getting bigger on me as I lose weight. I thought it would be fun to have these mementos! I love it when post surgery people post their before/after photos.

OH YES! DO IT!!!!! I took pics before my surgery and then each month I took pics in the same clothes until I had to wear something different because they were just way too big. It isnt fun taking those first few pics but they will be treasures when you see where you began and how far you have come! DO IT!!!!! I suggest to take the pics in the same place each time with the same clothes or similar clothes (pretty form fitting if you can so you can truly see a difference)

ALSO, measure yourself! All over! Keep these measurements and update them each month. This will be nice too when you are in a stall to realize that your body is changing even if the scale isn't! DO IT!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
