No, I haven't met him yet, how is he? I know Dr. Mikhail has some good experience in performing the sleeve. I am a RN and Paramedic and recognized him from Christ hospital. He was a trauma surgeon there and then spent time at the Cleveland clinic doing bariatric surgeries. I drilled him on the questions when I had my consult :)

I have not met Dr. Rosen either. From what I hear not to many people do. I met Dr. Mikhail and he was great!! I have my surgery on Nov 1st and my pre-op on Oct 17. I told them I wanted to meet Dr. Rosen and they said they would see what they could do!! Thanks for the info on Dr. Mikhail, that makes me feel good ;) I work in Ob/Gyn and the doctors that I work with say Dr. Rosen is a great surgeon.

Hi, just butting in…I'm going through LifeWeigh too…scheduled my date on Friday for 12/4. I've met with Dr. Rosen on my first appt., and the other day with Dr. Mikhail (surprisingly -- I thought I was meeting w/nurse practitioner). Totally liked both docs in conversation, seemed very easy to communicate with.

I'm in Lemont, scared, and looking for support too. Very happy to see some others nearby!

Hey Crinch... Your not butting in!!! It's great to get feedback from people that are going to LW! I'm scheduled for Nov 1st and it's coming quickly!!! I have my pre-op this Thursday and I supposed to meet Dr.Rosen, but I am not holding my breath ;). Dr. Mikhail was great, so I am not to worried. When did you start going to LW?

In the second week of August. I've gone 3x, and now will meet for pre-op in November. I've got to do 4 weeks of VLCD beforehand. Been on it almost 2 weeks and have dropped some weight. Hoping to be -50 before surgery, I'm already -22.

Have you found a support group nearby?

Wow your doing great!! I've lost 30lbs!! I start my pre-op diet on Oct 18th hope to lose at least 10 more on that but it could be wishful thinking ;) There seems to be a few people out by where I live (Yorkville) that want to start a support group but haven't yet! You know out doctors office has one right?? For me that would be so far away though!!!

I'm sorry I got excited but its on the 3rd of Dec

Sorry to jump in guys, congrats on your surgery date. I was just curious about your opinion about Lifeweigh in general and how you feel about the surgeons. Overall I have been happy. I just like to get other peoples intake. It's not often you find people that go to the same place and since I am have surgery Nov 1 I would like to know how you guys feel ;)

I like it so far. Most of the staff is great, a couple could be a little bit more people oriented, maybe they were just having a bad day. It was just personality, nothing about the medical professionals, but overall it has been a good experience. Dr. Mikhail is great and I feel very comfortable with him. I haven't met Dr. Rosen yet. If anyone wanted to meet to talk about anything, kinda like our own support group, I am willing. I live in Beverly. You should be starting the pre-op diet soon. You have to let us all know how its going :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
