Well I went to my post-op for having my lapband removed. I was told that my liver is way too fatty to do my sleeve surgery. The doctor is making me lose 50 pounds before he will do the surgery. I was very upset when I was told this and broke down in tears.

Once I settled down I met with the nutritionist and she gave me two options. 1. 1500 calories a day and it will take awhile to lose or 2. start the pre-op diet tomorrow and be on it until I am down 50 pounds. She thinks I can be down in about 4-5 weeks. I went and bought all my stuff today.

I am so disappointed, but I know that my doctor is doing what is best for me.

Ok so you have to do it a little longer than most.

But you can do it!!! Just remember why you are doing it in those tough moments..

It will be so worth it.

I think it's one of those things where it's just best to rip that bandaid off and get it done.

I went to a local support group and I couldn't believe how many people were approved for the surgery but had to lose 10% of their weight before they got their date...

They just weren't doing it. Week after week they

Couldn't do it by just "trying" to eat better..

Week turns into months and months turn into a year before you know it if you don't really start and commit.

Come here when you struggle. You will find support. And know that by this time next year everything can and will change for the better in so many ways :)

Laura...thanks for the words of encouragement. I am very lucky to have this group and a very good support system at home and at work. I know it is going to be hard but is going to be worth it.

As corny as it sounds... I'm rooting for you.

I'm rooting for you to get this surgery and to get yourself to a healthier and happier place.

Wow, you are truly an inspiration. I don't think I would be able to do 4 weeks liquid Pre op!! You can feel free to message me if you ever need to just unload, etc. Like Laura, I'll be rooting for you :)

You can do it. I also did my pre op for 35 days. I was sleeved 8 days ago. I think do to my long pre op my recovery is easier. I only lost 27 pounds on my pre op. I lost another 15 pounds since surgery. It's weird to think how much food controlled my life. I can now go and sit at a restaurant and watch other people eat. It does not bother me at all. I'm rooting for you. PM me if you need anything. It's not easy but you got this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
