Question....for those of you who have been sleeved. I have Kaiser who keep you in the hospital for a few days following surgery (I've read of places that do this outpatient). My question is how was the recovery? I know its at least two weeks before you can go back to work? But I live alone, should I go stay at my moms after surgery or have her stay with me?? I just can figure out how mobile I'll be after I get home?

There is a wide range of experiences, so it's hard to say. For me personally, I stayed one night only in the hospital but definitely needed someone to drive me home of course. I mostly slept for days and it was nice to have my family there to wake me up periodically and make sure I was staying hydrated and walking a bit every so often. Also it gave me peace of mind to know someone was there when i went to shower the first couple of days. But I mostly slept, so if no one had been there I would have been fine too I think. I never needed help walking around.

BUT -- like I said everyone is different. If Kaiser makes you stay several days in hospital, you may be just fine once you are released to be on your own. If at all possible, ask your mom if she can be on "stand by" to come stay in case you feel like you need her to. It's like a lot of things with this journey : You simply won't know until you are there.

Best of luck to you!

Just to echo Momonanomo, everyone's experience will be different based on a countless number of things. I was outpatient. In at 7, out by noon and back at the hotel (Golden Nugget in Vegas, baby!) Took a 4 hour nap and then took the wife out. Next two days, walked all over Vegas. Flew home Monday to Portland, OR and back to work half days on Wednesday. Full time the next Monday. I had no complications and have a desk job.

I was in the hospital for two days - had a friend drive me home and then I was on my own for a week. I had no issues whatsoever although I did have my housekeeper come an extra time to do some cleaning, laundry, etc. that I didn't feel up to.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
