Eating too much.

Recommended Posts

I am down 170 pounds and can't stop eating. I feel like I want to sabotage myself. I have much more to lose and find myself eating too many carbs. They go down easier. I am stressed and going to good for comfort once again. I started going to the gym to off set some of the calories but I am headed in the wrong direction. I eat anywhere from 1000 to 1500 calories and I should be at 800. I feel like I'm hungry all the time. I've got to get back on track. 10/10 is my 1 year anniversary. I need to lose at least 50 pounds. Uggggggh

I so understand where you are ---- I am 7 months post op and I am in the same place. I need to lose 60 more pounds, but feel like I am hungry all the time. I so don't want to go backwards. Just wanted to let you know you were not alone.

Are you taking an anti-acid/ acid reducer? A lot of times, you get much hungrier and it's really excess acid. I know for me it took me a whole to figure that out

Gina! You have really done a fantastic job, and you are getting so close to goal! Gotta stay away from those excess carbs, because they make you more hungry. The old carb monster! I have to say though, I am not a doc or nut, but 800 at a year out seems like too little. I would guess closer to 1200 and maybe just a little more if you are exercising a lot.... Did your nut actually tell you to eat only 800 a day until you get to goal? I eat between 1200-1400 5 days a week, and 550 two days a week (5:2 semi fast days) and this is how I got to goal into my third year.... No wonder you are hungry. Best of luck! You can do it, just try and stay with low glycemic index carbs, that will help with the hunger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
