Its ok to drink the water in Mexico?

Recommended Posts

It just occurred to me that despite many years of hearing about warnings to never drink the Water, eat the ice in Mexico... I haven't heard anybody talk about it on this forum?

Is it that these hospitals and hotels that are designated for Medical Tourism have really good filtration systems? Or has anyone experienced any problems with say... The ice?

I'm assuming the bottled Water is fine.

I would only drink bottled water.. You don't want to have tourista before or after your surgery.

I bought American bottled Water to drink and brush my teeth with. I just wasn't going to take the chance. I passed on the ice chips too since I was paranoid about it too. I have a friend that went on a mission trip to Mexico and picked up amoebic dysentery and got powerful sick, I sure didn't want something like that.

I drank bottled Water that was bottled in Mexico, and ate ice chips from Mi Doctor. I brushed my teeth with the faucet water at both the hotel and the hospital. I had no problems at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
