How much Protein Powder have you stocked up on? I'm a little curious as to how much I should have on hand for at least a month.

I don't have a date quite yet, hoping to get that on the 15th when I meet with my surgeon again. *fingers crossed* It should be in November though. I've been doing the process since May. It seems like it's been forever!

I think it would be wise to grab a few more Unjury protein mixes then, thanks for the input!

Just make sure you sample stuff first. And keep in mind that your tastes will change post op.

Thanks, I did! I got chicken broth mostly for the beginning. I plan on picking up some unflavored kind as well.

Yeah, I've got samples I'm going to try this week too. I'm really sick of chocolate pure Protein right now..and I don't need to start my pre op until the 12th. But I'm going to sample the stuff I have this week and then decide what to buy in bulk.

After reading how so many bought the giant tubs if this and that I thought sampling would be better.

Also. I got free samples this week from Bariatric Choice, and I bought the sample pack from unjury.com. It came with a small mixer and thermometer! :-)

I wouldn't stock up too much. What you can tolerate before surgery may be very different after surgery. I ended up returning a couple of unopened containers of Protein powder & throwing out the remains of an opened one. I still have a little of one flavored one & I tried it again yesterday - no go, it still sat like a rock in my stomach. I now use unflavored whey isolate Protein Powder & can add whatever flavor I want.

Today I got to progress to soft foods & discovered that my stomach does not like salmon! The first time since surgery I have actually thrown up.

I bit the bullet and ordered the tubs because shipping is costly and quite slow to my location. I just want to make sure I have it on hand lol :)

Oh my! I tried Salmon for the first time about a year ago. I figured since I'm in Alaska... why not try the freshest, best tasting stuff while I'm here. (I refused to eat seafood before). I loved it though. I hope I can tolerate it after.

What Peggy said. :) I ended up returning several containers of Protein powders because I couldn't take the sweetness post-surgery. Get yourself some unflavored powders and lots of samples - nearly all the bariatric sites offer sample sizes.< /p>

Just sharing my experience... I had no problem with Protein Drinks while on pre op, but I had to force it through liquid stage post op. I feel like I wasted so much money on powders (and many other things, lol!) that I will never consume. This is not typical, but definitely a possibility.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
