I feel your pain. I was 2 weeks pre-surgery liquids (800 cals per day). Post surgery has been 4 weeks each of all liquid, then purée, then soft foods. Another 2 weeks and I will finally be on regular food. Other than the all liquid stage, it hasn't been too bad.

My local flea market has a pickle stand, fresh with different favors. I bought the garlic flavored and would bite into them and just suck all the juice out until the looked almost like raisins, lol. Hubby said it was one of the grossest things to watch, but I was in heaven. Doc and NUT said no problem with pickles, just stay away from the skin for the first few weeks.

Oddly enough when my tummy doesn't feel so well.. I drink Pickle Juice and it makes it feel better. There are always pickles in my house.. Now for two reasons.. ;)

I craved green olives during the liquids stage and drank some of the brine. :-)

I added a spoonful of dill relish to my chicken salad and egg salad when I was on the mushy stage. I wasn't one to drink the brine, but I did love the flavor that the relish added to my salads.

I drank Pickle Juice right before and after surgery. For me I think it was because I was SO sick of the sweet Protein Shakes. I am more of a savory person so the shakes got old fast. It isn't all that unusual for me to drink pickle juice (I will get a hit when I am having cramps in my legs and feet) but I was drinking it every time I passed the fridge!

Pickes are the one thing I've been telling my hubby I've wanted since about day 3. How funny!

Weird. I didn't eat pickles before surgery. I'm 2 weeks post op and I crave pickles. Since I can't eat pickles I drank some Pickle Juice. Hope it's okay. I only drank a little because I was worried it might harm my sleeve.

Surely the vinegar in the brine must do something positive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
