Hello All!

This is my first post. I have had my consultation with the doctor, and he has submited to my insurance company. I am getting the other things in line and passing my time getting as educated as possible. This site is AWESOME. This is definately the place to go for help and support. I look forward to making many new friends here. Of course I am overwhelmed !!!( with the decision, the uncertainty, the lifestyle change, the preop, the postop, being able to wrap my mind around the possibility of actually being able to lose weight. ) We can get into those things later. LOL . I think that these are possibly fears that everyone faces. So glad I found this site. This is by far the best forum ever.

Welcome...Congratulations on your decision. Remember when reading others experiences that EVERYONE is different. Even if you read something and 98% of the people have experienced the same results doesn't mean that is going to be your experience. Always remember listen to YOUR body. Good Luck on your Journey and Welcome to a great place to get to know alot of new people and be supported all the way.

I too have loved this site and think it is the best! I have found friendship, support, advice, you name it on this board. The people here are so friendly, helpful and quick to respond to any questions you have.

If you are overwhelmed, just ask away, we have all just been there.

It is such a major life change and too have others that understand you, to go through this journey together, is priceless.

I look forward to seeing you around!!! Audree

Thank you for the welcome. I am very excited about my new journey. I wish you all continued success. I'm sure that I will be talking to you all. Actually Audree, I have been following the Lower BMI thread. I'm sure I will be posting there. It's a great forum. Best of Luck, Teresa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
