Can anyone give me information about the fitbit? I've been seeing it in a lot of folk's MyFitness Pal diaries... What does it do for you? Is it worth the price, etc... Thanks!

I can't help but I'm interested in either the Fitbit One or the Withings Pulse.

I had a step counter through the YMCA several years back and I was really motivated to move more.

The Withings Pulse is supposed to account for elevation and has a pulse monitor.

I'd love to hear from folks who have experience with both.

I currently have the FitBit Flex (the bracelet). I used to have the One (that attaches on the waistband). I like the Flex much better - it has more functions and I don't worry about it falling off.

It is a fitness tracker - it tracks your steps, how many minutes you're active, etc. It also tracks your sleep (how many times were you woken up and how many minutes - it gives your sleep efficiency as a %). You can set goals and it will vibrate when you've achieved them - my vibrates when I've hit 10,000 steps in a day.

It also allows you to track your food and Water intake on your smartphone or computer. It will summarize your Protein intake in grams (important for post-op). I like the food tracker, although if you want the summary of your daily intake, I think you have to get that on your computer. I can't find how you get to the detail on the smartphone app.

The Flex has the capability to connect to your smartphone w/ Bluetooth - that's a nice option so you get real time feedback on your progress. You can also connect to a computer wirelessly with the dongle that comes with the Flex. (the One connects USB only)

You can compare the Flex to the Jawbone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
