I have decided to have the vertical sleeve done in Mexico. I am now trying to decide between 2 doctors. Dr. Fernando Garcia and Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Can you share your experiences of each doctor with me? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Dr. Ortiz did my sleeve in February. I would recommend him as I had no nausea, no pain - just post surgery discomfort, and really liked his nutritionist. You can read all about my surgery experience on my blog www.hoosierfatty.wordpress.com Like you, I thought it was hard to sift through all the information about different surgeons and appreciated all the info I could get. But I will say, there are several very good surgeons in Mexico. I think Dr. Garcia is good too. So, do what is comfortable for you. Oh, Dr. Ortiz has many YouTube videos I found helpful. (Unsure if Dr. Garcia has the same). Good luck!

Hoosier, can I ask u, so u have to deal with Hair loss? I'm reading online that people dealt with that between 4-6 months after the surgery. Just wondering if there's something I can do now, like maybe start taking extra Vitamins or a supplement before my surgery?

I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on Sept 24th. Both Dr.s are great. Both have a lot of experience. All things being equal I went with Garcia because I saved $2,000. Nursing staff and hospital were better than expected. And the information package you get to take home is so helpful. But I think that was provided by Ready4Achange.< /p>

About Hair loss, nothing you do now will help you 6 months from now. Most people have hair loss because they do not get enough Protein and vital nutrients. I am 18 days post op, no hair loss here. If you are on a pre op diet you are told to stop all supplements, just fyi.

I went to Ariel Ortiz but you get two Drs because Dr Martinez works with Dr Ortiz which is not always mentioned. There were 4 doctors in on my surgery- that's how they do it all the time. I did not see Dr Martinez but he spoke to my parents and told them how the surgery went, but I had Skyped with him prior to going to Mexico. Dr Ortiz and Dr Martinez made the rounds speaking with patients preop the day I had surgery, then Dr So is also there (super nice guy) and anesthesiologist Dr Sanmiguel (he had a really long name so I hope that's right).

I hope I did this right. The thread is called "Dr Ariel Ortiz and Obesity Control Center? " I'm going to try to put the link below :)http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/91255-dr-ariel-ortiz-and-obesity-control-center/ {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

Read somewhere that there is really nothing you can do about hair loss and that if you lost a lot after pregnancy, you might be more likely to lose after the sleeve too. During my hair loss phase, I might have lost twice as much hair as normal. Noticed it in the shower drain. But my hair never looked or felt different. In all honesty, my biggest issue after the sleeve has been constipation!

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
