Disabledaccount 154 Posted October 2, 2013 Weird question i know but I feel like it's possible to hate the physical part of being overweight but like some things about being overweight i.e. the eating, being invisible etc. For those that have had the surgery and lost the weight, do you sometimes miss being overweight? Arts137 1,811 Posted October 2, 2013 I have been fat and thin many times. I think when fat all people see is 'the fat guy', So I am invisable. At times that is good. But not good enough to stay fat. Anyway now I am old and can use 'the old guy' as cover! :-)

MIJourney 490 Posted October 2, 2013 I'm still overweight but sure as heck don't miss being 65 lbs lighter! Onward and upward! 2 wd33 and ProudGrammy reacted to this
NewSetOfCurves 1,553 Posted October 2, 2013 Absolutely not!!! I don't miss the huffing and puffing; the extra body odor, sweat, and having to shower multiple times a day because if it; the inability to participate in activities because of tiring so easily or being embarrassed of my rolls and flap bouncing and making noise.... The list can go on and on. I don't miss it. Not even the food. Sent from my iPhone using VST 2 Butterthebean and ProudGrammy reacted to this

cindymg 629 Posted October 2, 2013 So I'm thinking the answer from most everyone on this site is NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! 'Course it does mean I have to participate in life instead of sitting on the sidelines watching. Can't hide behind my fat anymore. Oh well . . .

I hope the food cravings go away after the sleeve and I can just eat to live. 1 NewSetOfCurves reacted to this

Butterthebean 8,146 Posted October 2, 2013 I think plenty of people miss food, but doubt many miss being fat. 6 No game, Molly3, Beach Lover and 3 others reacted to this
No game 14,437 Posted October 2, 2013 I imagine if you are a person that likes being extra large (like a friend of mine) you would not have this surgery... Oh, and as far as being "invisible" when your fat? I felt that way too. But it's just not true! I stuck out like a sore thumb! Really when I got back into a more normal weight I felt more "anonymous" when out and about.. 5 ProudGrammy, NewSetOfCurves, Molly3 and 2 others reacted to this
M2G 1,836 Posted October 2, 2013 I'm not skinny now but I DO NOT miss the extra weight at ALL!!! Totally agree with LV, I feel the most "normal" now because I'm just average, not super skinny and not morbidly obese. I "blend" in more now than ever before. 2 ProudGrammy and No game reacted to this
ReDbEaN 654 Posted October 2, 2013 I've only lost 33 lbs, but I can say I absolutely do NOT want to go back to what I was!! If a person even has the thought that they MIGHT miss being big, my suggestion is do not have VSG done.
