1 1/2 years out... any questions

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months out and have lost 56 lbs. very happy with my weight loss so far. But I have been in a stall for a couple of weeks. I am so afraid this is all I am gonna lose. Did u have stalls that lasted this long? What did u do to break them? I have tried everything. I know u just gotta wait it out.

Do not keep a scale in your house!! I weighed myself about once a week when i visited my mom. That's it. It'll drive u crazy. At the beginning I did have stalls. The most important thing I did was not give up. Keep exercising, eating right, and drinking liquids. I celebrated what I had already lost and eventually a few weeks would pass and I would get on the scale and 5 pounds would be gone.

I felt like I was super informed going into the surgery. I just knew this surgery would be the tool I needed to change my life! My life is a lot different now in many good ways since the weight loss. I am married with 1 child and in my late 20's. My heaviest was 272. I lost naturally and went to 230. Then a had a baby and was 244 a year later on the day of surgery. Today I weigh 160 in a size 6. I'm 5'6". My lowest was 155 but only for about 2 weeks. Big boobs and butt... are gone sadly. Lol.

Does anyone have any questions? I'm an open book and here to help.

Great advice! Thanks for sharing! !

I am at month 2.5 and it has been far too easy ( I know heresy) sure it took hard work and focus and retraining' date=' but compared to the work i used to put into simply maintaining my high weight this is nothing. So my question is whether it gets harder? not so much to lose weight as I am nearly at goal now but to maintain the weight loss. particularly when the novelty wears off.

thanks[/quote']

It is very hard! Form all those healthy habits now because once your at the point where you're done losing the cheeseburgers, pizza, and days of resting on the couch will be staring you in the face. What I have done is maintain an active lifestyle. I don't go to the gym everyday, but I do walk to the store instead of driving sometimes. I also clean a lot, dance, and do anything to not get back into my lazy lifestyle I had before. Also, I try to adapt all the foods I love into the healthy versions. I don't believe in deprivation.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Did you keep track of your month to month loss if so what were you averages per month.

I am 7 months out and have only lost about 55lbs. I work out every day' date=' cardio 7 days and strength 3-4 days. I eat okay except for my recent love affair with ice cream.

I do notice the inches melting away.[/quote']

My weight loss was pretty steady. I think that I stayed at 180pounds for about 2 months then suddenly lost 10 pounds in a week. I didn't obsess. I had stalls. Some for 2 weeks. Some for 2 months.... I just kept looking towards the prize. The thing is, you have to stay positive. Keep working towards your goal. My personal goal was 175, and once I got there I knew I could lose more so I did.

Its really great that you have a good workout regime. That will help a lot down the road. Create a myfitnesspal account. It helped me tremendously! A matter of fact, you just inspired me to log my food today.

Shadayo....I noticed your goal list and one of them made me chuckle- climb a stripper pole! You can get a few classes with a groupon and they teach you how to do that the first night. It's all about how you position your feet, so it's not really arm strength. I bet you could knock that one off your list this month. :)

What was you longest stall period? I have only lost 1/2lb the last four weeks. I am drinking lots of Water, eating Protein and excercising. Don't know what to do. My surgery was 2/26/13 down 75lbs.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
