Superfluous 19 Posted October 2, 2013 This just occurred to me today....so my insurance requires 6 months supervised diet. I met with my PCP in May, July, August, September. Would my insurance "count" May, since it was the initiation of the diet?
Olarance75 215 Posted October 2, 2013 No they will not count May because it's 6 consecutive months.....you missed June. So really you are starting from September

Superfluous 19 Posted October 2, 2013 No, my insurance does not require that the 6 months be consecutive. I didn't "miss" June- my doc was on vacation and so I was unable to get an appointment.

HumorMe00 127 Posted October 2, 2013 My first visit didn't count. I wish it would have, but since its 6 months of supervised dieting, my first visit was day 0. Height: 5' 4'' HW: 256 SW: 227 CW:
ribearty 544 Posted October 2, 2013 It depends on how your insurance company counts the visits. My doctor's office counted my first visit. I asked them if they could and they made sure to charge it that way when submitting it to the insurance company.
Sofficial 162 Posted October 2, 2013 I went to the seminar August 5th and the coordinator at the weight loss center called me a few days later, she told me that if I wanted I could start my six months in August and it will count. My first Dr. apt was on 8/21, so I guess it depends ask the coordinator at your weight loss center he/she might know. What I've noticed about a lot of these insurance companies, is that they make you jump through a ton of hoops come time for approval. I read one lady's thread on this site and she she skipped a month, and when the Bariatric center submitted her info to her insurance, not only did they deny her but they told her that she had to start the entire process all over because her six months weren't consecutive. She was HEATED!! I'm not saying this will be the case with you, but what I am saying is check, check, and double check. I felt like her coordinator should have caught that, that's why I'm constantly on the phone with my insurance co or coordinator to ensure she's doing her job and to make sure the insurance co is on board with everything that's going on.
