What do you do about your flopping belly?

Recommended Posts

I have bought compression shorts. I think I should have bought them a size smaller.

What do most people do about their belly flopping up and down when they run or jump? Should compression shorts be super tight?

Is there a better solution?

Ok, I was wondering what kind of activity we were talking about... Ahem, I wear compressions when I work out: shirts that is. Never tried compression shorts. Do you like them?

I do like them- I have not run or exercised in them. LOL

I bought an expensive pair from a biking online store and two cheap pairs from Walmart. The expensive pair might have held me better if they were tighter but I wear those 3 pairs all the time at home. I like the way they make me less jiggely and yet are comfortable enough to take a nap in. My old shorts were from when I weighed 298 a few years ago and they got too ridiculous to wear.

I just got some under armour compression shirts and they help keep everything in place, and they work great, you want them to be tight. They do have them for women as well, picked it up off of zappos.com. I plan on using them until I can get down enough to get surgery to clean up the lose skin.

Wow I didn't even realize there WERE compression shirts like that- like decent looking outer garments! I think I need a compression garment for everything above the elbows and knees- like a wetsuit!!

I'll wear mine on certain lifting days at the gym. I actually find that they help my muscles feel tighter, perhaps pressing on the tendons causing my joints to feel a bit more comfortable when working out. Not sure of the science behing it. At my age (and high mileage), I need whatever pain relief I can get. :)

I wear compression shirt and shorts almost every workout because they really do help with speed when running, lifting, jumping, rowing and other gymnastic type stuff like wall climbs, push-ups, pull-ups, handstands, etc. they are really, really, really helpful for running. Running fast. That being said, I am thinking about going down a size. Currently top is large and bottom is medium, but I think medium for top would work better now that I am smaller since buying the large top a few months ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
