Band 2 seeve today. FAILURE

Recommended Posts

Had surgery today, but was unable to have sleeve done because the band had encapsulated itself and doc had to literally dig it out, then remove scar tissue..

Now I'll be on a healing period of 4 to 6 months, bummer!

Bummer! But enjoy the relief of having the band gone! No more getting stuck, hooray!

What an awful thing to happen. Least it's out now and you can do a bit of leisurely healing. On the plus side, you'll be able to have a little nibble of all the stuff you haven't been able to eat whilst banded! Which, from what I hear, is pretty much everything! Wishing you a speedy recovery :) x

Oh terry so sorry to hear! I was thinking of you yesterday because I knew your date was close by. I'm so sorry to hear that, but let the healing begin now eh?

Yes I'm pretty thankful for Doc Alvarez. I agreed with him upf front and knew this was a 50/50 chance.

Thanks for your support!

Wow, sorry to hear this. Definitely not the outcome you'd planned for I'm sure. Hang in there, get some healing time in and come back. I'll be thinking about you.

Terry,

I am so sorry to hear that you could not have your sleeve done at this time. However, you know that you will be able to do so in the future. It would have been worse news to hear that you were not a viable candidate due to the scar tissue. Good luck.

I am going in on October 25th for a band to sleeve revision and scar tissue is one of my biggest fears. I have had my band in July 2007.

Yes, we were in rooms right next to each other. I got to meet and hang out with so many nice people. Cant wait to go back in February. Seems like a lifetime away :(

My surgeon maybe wait a minimum 6 weeks from the band removal to the sleeve. This allows the stomach to heal from any kind of scar tissue.

Hi, I had my band out and then waited 13 months for my op. I'm doing great on the sleeve. Hopefully the time will fly by for you :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
