Eating like a mad woman.

Recommended Posts

I have ate everything, and think I am finally full! I'm literally sick of food. I start pre-op, liquids only tomorrow - I'll probably feel different... however, tonight was the Grande Finale!

Good luck tomorrow, girl...and for the next couple of weeks. It'll be tough, but you can do it!!

Before my surgery, I was on what I called "the dead man walking diet" -- you know, the every meal is my last meal syndrome. Drove my already out of control diabetes to such a high that my surgeon almost cancelled the surgery. He was worried that I would have all kinds of complications.

Surgery went ahead, absolutely NO COMPLICATIONS. I am 4.5 months put, down 58 lbs, diabetes and other co morbidities resolved. And I feel fabulous!

Not recommending that you follow my dead man walking diet. It makes withdrawal during the preop liquid a nightmare. Start now eliminating sugar and caffeine from your diet. It will reduce the withdrawal symptoms that you will have during the first three days on liquids.

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

Omg...the last two weeks I have eating all my favorite foods,,not bingeing though. I've keep my weight steady for the several months at 210 lbs,. My insurance does not require a 3 or 6 month diet program...however, I see the nutritionist for the first time tomorrow and want to get on high Protein , low carb diet for 6 weeks prior to my surgery. I know the first 3 days will be tough..but I know I can do this. So tomorrow is my day 1... I would like to lose 15 pounds on my preop diet snd 65 pounds after my sleeve. My goal is 130 pounds..I'm 5 feet 1". Will keep u posted on my pre op..this will keep me motivated since I want to be accountable to my dear supporters on this website. Thanks for all of your communications. It is such a comfort to hear of your successes while making such a drastic change in our lives.

I went through the same thing... My pre-op diet starts tomorrow so today I had waffles for Breakfast and spaghetti for lunch! Felt guilty and had a Protein Bar for dinner. Sayonara carbohydrates.

I had horrible nausea day 1,2,3. But it went away on day 4, however I couldn't get much Fluid in. And today, day 5, I got a little bit more fluid in but I'm starting to feel more gas and have horrible back and shoulder pain. But honestly, I'm glad the nausea is gone, it was the worst.

So I think I'm doing pretty ok and I'm looking to better and better days :-)

So glad I found this thread. My surgery is the 22nd and I only have 1 day preop Clear Liquids. I haven't been gouging but I've been making sure every meal is one of my favorite foods.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
