She asked well what would work best to "make" you stop eating junk. I said getting your mouth wired shut permanently.. :P

You can get around that too. In the 80s my bosses friend got her mouth wired shut and gained weight. She was living on milkshakes and scotch. Separately of course.

Omg. This is what they mean when they say " we had surgery on our stomach not on our brain". Very scary isn't it?

I have met several people lately who feel inclined to tell me horror stories about people getting the surgery and then eating around it and not losing. I am scheduled for December for the sleeve and now getting nervous about that. What do you think?

You know there's another thread someone started that said "if you still struggle, why do it?" Or something like that. You might enjoy that one too. I learned a lot from it.

I am 1 year out and glad that I did this. I can eat and enjoy life. I still eat my favorite foods and have lost 100 lbs. The best thing I've ever done. You also have to understand that some people will be negative no matter what. Do your research and research your doc. Find a good one with a good support team. You will be fine. The only thing that bothers me is some minor acid reflux that I didn't have pre sleeve. But with that being said I would do it over again tomorrow if I had to.

I am 4 months out and I love my sleeve. I like eating less. And losing weight. I will never go back to how I ate before. There is just no way. I like eating healthy foods. I eat very small portions. Protein first. U gotta eat a lot of protein. I love it though. I love my new life. I eat a 1/2 of a lean cuisine for lunch. Then eat the other 1/2 the next day for lunch that is my luxury meal. At night I eat mostly protein. At Breakfast I eat 1 egg and 2 pieces of bacon. Again all protein. For a snack I have a Protein Bar. I love my new life. It is wonderful. I went from size 2X scrubs to large. And skin tight 22 jeans to very loose 16 s I can't wait to wear size 12. This has been a dream come true for me. All my life I have been overweight and I have always wanted to be skinny. I could never do it by myself. I was always starving. No I have no to very little hunger. I could not be happier with this surgery. I have lost 58 lbs so far. Just came out of a 3 week long stall. Those are not very fun. But they happen. U just gotta wait and they will pass. I am losing again now. I walk and do yoga. I really hope u get the surgery. It has made my life so wonderful! My husband is all over me. He always loved me before but is very handsy now that I have lost weight. Good luck.

At over a year out, I am still losing. Yes, it is possible to eat around it, but it is MUCH harder to eat around the sleeve than it is to eat around other surgeries. The thing to remember is that after a certain amount of time, your stomach relaxes, and you will be able to eat a LOT more than you were in the beginning. This is where the REAL work comes in. If you start to eat more carbs and eat junk, it's inevitable that you WILL stop losing, and could even gain some (this has happened to me!!). The thing to remember is that "protein first" is not just for a while - it's forever. Or for as long as you want to continue to lose weight.

Be mindful too - your loss will slow down considerably after the first 6 months. You will likely go from losing 5-10 lbs a month down to about 4-5 lbs or less a month. DO NOT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU. It is absolutely normal and ok! This won't mean that you're "eating around your sleeve" at all - rather that your body is adjusting to it. As long as you are losing every month, you're okay!

Hope this was helpful!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
