So Thursday afternoon I started feeling a little nauseated and within 30 minutes, I was so violently sick. Nothing was coming up, but I was just heaving and wretching so hard. It was so painful. I thought it was a stomach bug, but it wouldn't stop. I got scared and called Dr. Trivedi after about 5 hours of this. He told me to rush to the ER. Cat scan, ultrasound, blood work... more throwing up... I finally sent my husband and daughter home at 1 am once I knew I was being admitted. Friday morning, I had emergency gall bladder surgery and a bunch of adhesions freed up. This surgery was much more painful than my RNY. I'm also bruised a lot, too. But I came home today and it feels so good to know I'm sleeping in my own bed tonight. This was a Valentine's Day I'll always remember!

Wow! I hope you feel better and have a Safe recovery! I heard this happens often to people who have had weight loss surgery. Lots of hugs and love sent your way! I

Thanks so much for the support, kids! I'm definitely feeling better, but I'm VERY sore and bruised. I didn't bruise at all with my RNY. Not sure what touched it off. I had a few sips of diet Ocean Spray and I immediately felt a wave of nausea. I went upstairs and lay down for a little bit and within 30 minutes I had to go throw up. Then it was like clockwork. Nothing was coming up, but I couldn't stop. I couldn't keep anything at all down. The nasty stuff you have to drink for a CAT scan was the worst. I was able to hold it down for the scan, but when they wheeled me down for the ultrasound, the motion made me violently ill. That was the closest thing to puking my guts up that I've ever experienced. I know it came from below my pouch because more than a pouch full came up. Sorry if TMI. I was SO ready to go to the ER when they came to get me at 9 am Friday.I usually have nothing but good to say about St. Peter's, but this time was different. They had trouble with my IV so they put it in the crook of my elbow, rendering my arm useless. Four more failed attempts in my wrist left me with a nasty bruise. Then while I was in the OR, they started a new one in the top of my hand, but they left the other one in! It kept poking my bicep and I almost took it out myself. Then, the icing on the cake was that they brought me a dry ass hamburger on a white bread bun for lunch yesterday! SERIOUSLY?! LOL! But as always, the nursing and medical staff were top notch. Now I don't feel like eating much at all. My ribs are still sore from wretching so hard. and now I probably don't have that little string in my incision anymore since they went back into that one! I just can't believe it took me down so fast. My gall bladder was fine in December.

My gosh im so sorry to hear all this! Glad you're on the up and up though! Did they say if it could be a cause of the RYN by any chance?

Yes, gallstones are very common in WLS patients. Sometimes they remove the gall bladder while they're in there doing the sleeve or RNY. I'm still trying to understand the way it happens, but I know it has something to do with cholesterol and losing fat quickly.

Cher I am four months post op and I had the sleeve, best decision I have ever made! I was doubtful when it came to the insurance approving me but it all worked out! What insurance do you have? Since surgery I have felt amazing! Off all my blood pressure and cholesterol meds, no more sleep apnea, back pain is significantly better, my every is better, breathing, everything! This will be an amazing life changing decision. No regrets here what so ever!

Cher~

With your insurance it is cake is your BMI is over 35 and you have two conditions that are a cause of obesity. That is one of the easiest insurances to get it through from my experience. When you have Medicare it's a risk, you get the surgery and then they bill it to insurance and then the insurance decides. If they don't, then patient has to pick it up. With Medicaid and fed ilia you are golden!!

Brick house hope your feeling better! Still thinking of you!

I also wanted to share two things with everyone.

One. I had my well what I'm considering first NSV! I got out of the shower today and the towel actually fit all the way around me!! It was a very proud moment for me. I've been at a stand still with the weight buy I know I'm losing inches! Things are fitting better if not getting loose so even tho the numbers on the scale aren't moving. I know other things are. And I'm ok with that! Yay!

The second thing I wanted to share is. I signed up for The daily burn. It's an online workout thing. You can stream the videos from any device basically and they are a series of workout videos customized to what your looking to do. I started it today and my first video was 19 minutes and it was awesome! There's actual real life people in the videos with their own disabilities and It's starting me off slow and I work my way up. It's 10$ a month after the first free month trial period. I picked how much time I'm willing to spend on the work outs (I chose 30minutes) and I dunno. I'm really excited and wanted to share.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
