Albany, New York....?

My chili was a lot of juice and Tomato which is ok by me but I read that it was probably too oily and fatty for me right now which is why I felt so sick after, regardless it was a really nice change and will be my go to quick meal if I am ever out and can't prepare myself. Tomorrow I am going to make egg salad. I'm excited over that! Don't laugh lol. My friend asked me what my first real meal is going to be after this soft foods stage and I hadn't thought about it but when I did, you know what I am dying for!? A salad. A nice crisp fresh salad. He laughed at me but my god I'd give anything for a salad lol. So I understand your need for your salad. It's still healthy though.

I would love to meet up and talk and share The only problem is I started work again tonight (boo) and I work at Albany med 230-11 so support groups are hard for me unless you know of a day time one or weekend? I've been asking around and no luck. CDPHP actually called me to ask how I am doing after surgery (I am quite impressed by that) and she asked if there is anything they can do for me and I said find me a support group for during the day lol. I'm so lame I know

Brick house congrats on your success! I know everyone must go at their own pace and their bodies run on their own schedule but I wish I was loosing like you! Good job! I need to stop focusing on the scale because the scale isn't moving much but I know I'm shrinking. It will all catch up I'm sure. Kyle, I think I might have to give up the scale!

Jules~

Albany Med you say? Well that's my Hospital :-) lol. They do have a day time support group but I don't go to it because I hate to say it but I just don't care for the crowd there :/ the support group I go to is on Thursdays from 530-730pm, and some ppl leave early, come late. Maybe if you happen to get a Thursday off you can come, or down the road you can play hooky lol. I had a Greek salad tonight and OMG yum! Lol I love my salad and truthfully that was what I wanted for my one food after my post op diet! Egg salad...ummm can you say yummy! Lol. Trust me when I went to soft, egg salad was my lover lol. I just had to mix it extra extra well to make it smooth. My taste buds have changed since surgery, let me know if you happen to have that change at all, I'd be interested in knowing. It's actually benifited me, because the foods I no longer care for were the bad bad ones lol. Congrats on starting the new job! What is it exactly that your doing if you don't mind me asking?

Really? Where are the group meetings during the day? God I wish I could have any salad right now lol. And I have actually never made egg salad before. I usually buy it from Albany med but I'm going to do my own for low fat sakes! Do you do anything special for yours? I was thinking about doing a deviled egg type thing. My taste buds have changed somewhat but my food options are still limited. For some reason before surgery for the lap band I had plain Decaf coffee with equal and I'm a coffee freak! But I usually do cream and equal. Without the cream it made me sick. After surgery I couldn't do coffee for maybe 6 months after. This surgery I bought those Isopure drinks and tried getting used to them before surgery. After surgery the thought of them made me so sick I couldn't drink them! I'm still trying to get some of them down and I want to gag. I haven't really experimented with much yet tho. I'll keep you updated on that lol.

I worked at Albany med previously. I was on a 3 week hiatus because of surgery. I went back tonight and I really wish I hadn't. It was a lot for me and my belly really hurts from standing and leaning so much I really think I should have taken this week also. But I do vascular ultrasound. And today was not a good day to go back

Rensterness, I am just getting back to "real" foods, or Stage 4. I still experiment. For instance, I can eat deli turkey but not deli ham. My dietician said to steer clear of high Fiber foods (corn, broccoli, etc.) for the next few months. I don't eat breads, rice, or Pasta. No carbonation. No steak... Meatballs seem to be fine with sauce. Greek yogurt is my go-to food. I love it. eggs are great, too. I am sticking with cleaner, healthy foods... except when I make a microwave meal and just eat the Protein.< /p>

Support groups during the day are at 25 Hackett Blvd, it's in the same building as the bariatric center for Albany medical center. The groups are on the first floor in the conf room. Day ones are a lot smaller, a lot, and it's not the same crowd you would get in the evening. I guess I've just gotten so used to the people in the evening group that it is like 'my thing' to go to that one lol

Wow, Rensterness, look at YOU! You look great! And that's a great Taylor Swift "SURPRISE!!" look, too! LOL!

Doing pretty well over here. I got some good cardio in, going to the Y and using the Arc Trainer. Love that thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
