My first day of pre-op liquid diet - Yikes !

Recommended Posts

Yes it does! By day 5 I had so much dang energy I was the energizer bunny. Just hang I. There. Soon you will feel SO good, and so much in control it will be totally worth it. You will see yourself as a winner who had "got this". It's the best feeling in the world.

OMG, I could have written this post!! I am also finishing my first day on liquid and just finished a bowl of chicken broth that tasted way more delicious than it should have! It HAS to get easier. What is your surgery date?

Oh good! Thank you. I tell you I was so sure I was going to fail the liquid pre-op. But I went I to my surgery with peace of mind, knowing that I did indeed have enough self-control,that I could succeed at this being sleeved business. I am SO grateful I didn't cheat myself out if the victory.

The first few days just plain suck. But just because they suck, doesn't mean that they don't get better, or that you should cheat. It just means they suck so you to turn you eye to the future which is much better.

Hang in there!

Back when I was a distance runner in high school, the week before the state finals our coach would put us through "hell week." It would be the most brutal, intense, painful workouts of the entire season, and we all would feel like our bodies had been beat down by industrial machines.

But when the state finals would start, suddenly we found we were all running the fastest 5K of our lives....most of us posted the best times we'd ever done, and were full of energy.

I guess the point is that "hell week" wasn't even slightly fun. But it was worth the payoff to run the best race of my life. I didn't enjoy the liquid diet at all, but I saw it as the food equivalent of "hell week," and I just saw my doc today, and I've already lost 31% of my "excess weight"...a very large amount relative to what they usually see at 6 weeks.

So I'd say my food equivalent of "hell week" was totally worth it. To use a quote I used to say to the freshmen on our team: Pain is temporary, pride is forever.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
