I just received a call from the surgeon's office to inform me that I will need to be on a supervised diet. The rep told me when I go in for consultation the surgeon will let me know the duration. Anyone else have this same requirement?

I'm on a three month diet, but it's not due to an insurance stipulation. It's something my weight loss clinic does.

I'm hoping to get sleeved in April. I had to start over with a new doctor recently. I have no idea what to expect for a supervised diet.

My UHC plan requires the supervised diet prior to surgery. I wish there was away around that, but it's not. I really wanted to have the surgery done before the holidays.

I'm 8 weeks into the 6 months weight management. It's hard but wry doable. just stay focused! I created a board with pictures when I was smaller and also of clothes I want to wear to help motivate me. I have been trying to get this surgery done for years but now it seems my dream will finally come true! Best wishes to everyone!

I'm two months into my six month diet and I'm hoping to go in February/March. My last Dr.apt I gained 3lbs so I guess I'll try harder but it's HARD!!! I'm so anxious these next four months are going to feel like four years, but then again, the past two months kinda flew by so...

Keep at it- you've got this! I keep thinking that six months is going to be hard to maintain. But, I know I have to.

Today is my FIRST day of my six month diet! Only good thing is I don't have to lose a required amount. Hoping for a late April/ early May date.

Yeah I don't have to lose a required amount either and that kinda scary. I read a lady's comment on another thread and she said that she failed big time doing the six month diet and her insurance made her do an addition month due to non compliance. I think I'm gonna call my insurance and ask them what exactly are they looking for doing the six months.

bs. I was really happy to hear that news, but I will try to loss more than 20 lbs to lower my BMI before surgery.

I started my 6 month required medically supervised diet the middle of September 2013. I met with the dietician, we talked about my past ways of trying to loose weight, tips for getting ready for life after WLS. I wasn't told I have to loose a specific amount of weight. But I'm to incorporate new habits of not having liquids with meals, smaller bites, and chewing well. So if all goes as planned I'm excited about the prospect of having vertical sleeve done in March or April 2014! I'll be following this site to stay connected with others that are on the same timeframe as I am!

Well, I have to see the nutritionist for 6 months per my insurance, is that what you mean?

I meet with my bariatrician on Wednesday to start my six month diet.

Anyone else beginning in October hoping to be sleeved in March/April 2014?

Me. I have had 2 nutrition appointments, going for my endoscopy this Wednesday. I have been doing terrible on my "diet" duh... this is why I need help. I did nothing as far as diet goes the 1st month, (gained) Now , this month, I am being much better. (well this week) until hubby brought home my favorite fried chicken. after I ate it, we talked and I asked him not to buy it anymore (for now)... this part is not going to be easy at all...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
