Pennsylvania sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I found him wonderful. I followed all instructions and had no gas pains, vomiting, nausea, etc... I walked in recovery and so far I have shown a loss every time I get weighed. I honestly can't say anything but good things about my experience at UPenn. or with their program. I love that he prescribes omeprazole and colace from day 1. I haven't experienced any severe issues with Constipation or acid.

I don't I eat healthy fats but keep them low. I also do natural sugar from fruit and such and on occasion real sugar or raw honey. I am allergic to artificial sweeteners.

Hi @@LinKo! This post popped up when I was searching the forum for my surgeon - Dr. Rogers at Hershey. :) She did my gastric bypass in 2009; she has also taken out my gallbladder, fixed twisting intestines/scar tissue twists twice, jumped in for emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer, and most recently (May 11th) repaired a strangulated hernia in my small intestine. Anyway, just wanted to say that Dr. Rogers is AMAZING, and you're in very capable, qualified, caring hands. Her LNP, Lisa, is awesome quite awesome! And Bonnie Wilson, too - you'll probably meet her in the hospital if you haven't yet had surgery.

Thank you so much. That definitely puts my mind at ease. I've just started the process so I think I'm pretty far.from surgery.

I had my surgery 3/18/2015. My starting weight, pre-OptiFast was 362. I'm down to 277 today I was a 56 waist now a 44 and still losing. I'm having some difficulty with the motivation to do strength training though.

I had my sleeve in January. Down 74lbs. Down 5 pants sizes and 2 shirt sizes. I'm doing pretty good, I feel good and have a lot more energy. I went off my insulin, just pills now and my sugars are good. I had a few problems in the beginning but things are really on the upside right now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
