Ive always been hot natured, keeping the thermostat at 68 degrees. Now... I'm freezing unless the temp is above 75. Am I low on Iron?

I don't know if you're low on Iron, but I'm 8 weeks post op tomorrow and I freeze all the time since my surgery :) Like you, I used to be hot natured, but not anymore!

I slept in sweat pants and sweat shirts my first 2 months post op -- in the middle of summer! It's better now, but I still get cold. But, to me that's one of the benefits of the surgery. I've spent most of my life sweating, always hotter than everyone else. So it's great to always be the first one to reach for a sweater.

I was freezing all the time at my top weight. I always slept with an electric blanket even in the hottest summer months. Now, with 89# gone, I have to put a heavy blanket over the electric blanket so I'm not shivering all night. lol

My understanding is that because your body is burning the calories on your body, not extra calories in food, that's why we're cold. I can always tell when I've eaten too many carbs because I get warm again. My ex hubs started getting cold when he had to start eating better to deal with his diabetes. It all boils down to how our bodies are now processing food. :-)

Its the lack of carbs. Like Silkchik, I can feel it when I've not had carbs. Consequently, I'm trying to incorporate a little bit of carbs every day. My man was kind enough to buy me an electric blanket, which I sit on whilst watching tv. I am in the North of the UK, however and it is balls-arse cold here right now! In bed, I don't need it, as he's a not so little radiator!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
