I am NOT a patient person so this wait is KILLING ME!

Recommended Posts

Okay, maybe "killing me" is a big dramatic.... ^_^

But- I am not a patient person when it comes to delayed gratification. So all this waiting is hard for me. My insurance requires 6 months of doc visits and I have 2 more months of that. THEN, I have to wait to hear if I'm approved. THEN, assuming I am approved (which is certainly no guarantee) I have to wait to find out when surgery can be scheduled.

How do you deal with all this WAITING??

i know its hard, i had the 6 month requirement as well. the first half went so slow. it seems all i think about is the surgery. Sometimes its like im crawling the walls. I finished my last appts in late sept and just saw my surgeon last thursday and now im on the preop diet (day one) i dont have a date yet but i should within 2 weeks. Just try to be patient. Im gonna use the rest of the time praticing my new habits like sipping slowly and im going to start getting things in order like all my personal documents etc. Good luck and hang in there! itll be here before you know it.

I was originally scheduled for surgery on July 31st, then found out I had Afib, and had to deal with my heart for the rest of the summer. Surgery was postponed. Now I have to wait until my next vacation, in Dec. I am focused on knowing everything I can before surgery, putting my clothes in order (what I can wear now, what I will be able to wear shortly after surgery, and goal weight clothes...) I am working up my endurance in exercise again, which has been a challenge since the heart piece and the blood pressure meds. have worn me down a bit.

At any rate...waiting sucks, for sure--but we'll get there! Good luck!

By learing all you can about what life will be like "post sleeve" and ... stopping smoking, eliminating carbonated drinks, getting Water in, and converting your food intake to Proteins and veggies first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
