sonya139 95 Posted September 30, 2013 I haven't been but have heard great things. I noticed someone posted that they are heading to Mexico tomorrow for surgery. You might want to talk with her (sbarbiegirl).

HoosierGirl 780 Posted September 30, 2013 I had a friend with me on surgery day and that was it. Recovered and traveled home alone. It can be done with great results! You are welcome to read my blog about the surgery day experience www.hoosierfatty.wordpress.com If my friend was not there, the only thing I would have needed is for the surgeon's staff to call my hubby. Everything else was taken care of. Where I had surgery, they had free outgoing calls and family can call the hotel for free. So, I would text my hubby or family using the Marriott WIFI and they would know I was awake and would give me a call at the hotel. If you are by yourself, pack light so you don't have to fool with a big heavy suitcase when you travel home. GOOD LUCK!
cpeycke 16 Posted September 30, 2013 Hey Hoosier did you get the single incision? How did it heal, can you even see it??
homersmomma 77 Posted September 30, 2013 I traveled to Tijuana alone to have my surgery. At the clinic there is a line that you can call the states and receive calls from also.
cpeycke 16 Posted September 30, 2013 That's good I will need to at least call 2 people. I'm just more scared because of the language barrier...
katie75009 34 Posted September 30, 2013 I went alone and was just fine. I downloaded a texting app so I could leave the phone off and use it only over wifi. I had no problems. When I woke up from surgery and got back to my room I sent my husband a text and he took care of letting anybody else know. Once I had all my wits back from the anaesthesia, I was able to use the wifi and Skype him. I was told there was a phone that I could ask for to call the states, but didn't feel it was necessary. I used Skype in my room at the Marriott and had no problems either. I would suggest if you have a tablet or smart phone, Netflix. Netflix was a life saver for me, especially in the hospital. With pain meds I couldn't focus well enough to read, but could watch a movie. The television is a bit limited at the hospital and hotel.
katie75009 34 Posted September 30, 2013 Also, the language barrier was no problem. The nurses understand just about anything surgery related. There was a chart in the room with common things that need to be said with the translation next to it. I also downloaded Google translate so I could type what I needed in English and it would speak it out for me in Spanish.
leslie1958 159 Posted October 1, 2013 I'm going alone this weekend (4th October and surgery is 5th) but I have found 3 sleeve sisters all going at the same time and you can too. Start a thread looking for buddies going around your dates. You'll really feel better having some company but everyone is correct you will be fine !! 1 atlchick reacted to this
