Beach Lover 1,084 Posted September 30, 2013 My hair guy ordered Revita for me. It has helped a lot and regenerates the hair follicle. Are you getting enough Protein? This can cause some of it but most all of us go through this. I was telling my hair guy about this possibly happening and he said he had been to a seminar about this Shampoo and said it was very impressive. He has given it to some of his clients with hair pattern baldness and it did regrow hair for them. Your hair will grow back without this but it just helps it to regenerate a little quicker. I honestly only had 1 day where I had a hand full of hair and started the shampoo and it has been very minimal since. You can order it on Amazon and it is a little pricey but it works. I ordered the conditioner with it. Hope this helps.
luckysmomma 407 Posted September 30, 2013 There's nothing you can do really...keep up your Protein, but in the end, there's nothing you can do about the Hair loss except just wait it out..it does stop eventually. I have read several posts about the length of time, but I think a year is out is the longest out I have read about hair loss. I have only read one post about going bald, but the person had had several complications. Mine started about month 4; I am nearing 7 months...it is still happening. I have tried every shampoo/conditioner combo out there. I take prenatal & Biotin. I have tried washing/not washing, styling/not styling, trimming/not trimming...it is still coming out & knotting up. I wish I had more positive to tell you. My heart is broken over it because my hair is all I have & finally being skinny again is in reach, but with crappy hair...very discouraging to me. I knew it would happen, but till it does a person isn't prepared for it. Best of luck to all of us with it. 2 nsquared and magpie30 reacted to this
2btrim 129 Posted September 30, 2013 As a stylist, I am going to try to answer the why's to your question. First, hair is fed by the blood supply at the very bottom of the root bulb. It is a little more than 90% Protein, that is the excess that your body doesn't need. That protein makes up your hair and nails. When you have surgery or when you are ill, your body needs all the protein it can get for healing and often times there just isn't any left over for hair. Have you ever noticed how someone who is anorexic often times has very dry thin and brittle hair, that's because the body is starving for protein and needs what little bit it gets to protect itself as in the internal organs, skin and brain function. Vertical sleeve surgery removes 80-85% of the stomach, and it take the body some time to adjust to this, that is why Protein Shakes are so important. Therefore, even with consuming the suggested amount, it is unlikely that there will be enough left over for the hair. With time you will be able to absorb more and there will eventually be extra available for your hair once again. 3 kristinalynne, nsquared and Beach Lover reacted to this
esv2000 0 Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks a lot for your responses!!! I am 100% sure now it is Protein deficiency that's causing my hair fall. I'm ashamed to say I'm not following any protein requirements or other rules after surgery and I'm at stall after losing 35 lbs. I need to restart the process!!!!! Beach Lover 1,084 Posted September 30, 2013 Just make sure you get at least 70-80g of Protein each day. 35lbs is still a good amount to lose and you just have to get your body nourished so you can continue to lose. If you don't get the required amount in you will stall yourself because your body thinks it is starving and will shutdown your weight loss. You can turn this around with getting the calories in. Best of wishes and keep us posted!
magpie30 187 Posted September 30, 2013 I'm not sure it is all Protein. I get on average 70grams a day, and i'm still losing my hair like crazy. I'm kind of enjoying it because i've always had super thick hair, so right now while it's so thin, it actually looks nice and not like a giant poof ball when i wear it down. But whatever the reason, it will stop and your hair will grow back. Don't sweat it. =)
