beckymit 0 Posted January 22, 2007 My user name is beckymit and I am new to this forum. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on 2/5/07 and would just like to hear from people who have gone through it so I can know what to expect. I'm not sure if I am posting this right or not or how I am supposed to do it.
juliegeraci 7 Posted January 22, 2007 Hi Becky, I've been banded for 7 months and I'm down around 40 lbs. The band is a great tool. I like not being hungry anymore. I don't eat very much during the day so that is a good thing. Congrats on making this life changing decision. You will love your band.
beckymit 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Julie, Thanks for the encouragement. I needed that. It is a scary proposition, but I know it is what I must do. I have tried all kinds of diets for the last 30 years and none have worked permanently. I am looking forward with trepidation to my lap banding and have asked for lots of prayers for what lies ahead. I am glad yours was so successful! Becky

beckymit 0 Posted January 24, 2007 I had my pre-ops today and they discovered I have some gallstones. The doctor will remove them during the lap band surgery on 2/5/07. Has anyone else had gallstones removed and, if so, was the recovery period any longer? I would appreciate any input. Thanks! kssunflower 0 Posted January 25, 2007 Hi Beckymit, I am also new, I am 62 and going to my first seminar Feb. 10th., I am so looking forward to having the lapband but I also worry about the first couple of weeks and the nausea. I plan on having mine done in Topeka, KS. by Dr. Dunshee, I had a friend that went to him and has done quite well. He is also cheaper then the KC or Wichita area. I have BC/BS PPO and they won't pay anything. This is quite a sacrifice for me to have to pay this out of pocket but I am so sick and tierd of being sick and tierd, I just made up my mind I am going to do this for me. My primary physician has encouraged me to do something for awhile now because I have so many illness because of my obesity. I'm jealous that you are going to get your's in a couple of weeks. Please keep me posted on how you are doing.
