For Pre or Post VSGer's...Why VSG?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if you would care to share why you decided on having a VSG done, as opposed to the RnY? I think I have my mind made up from having several conversations with my PCP, but I would love to hear from others as well.

For me, I liked that it leaves most of the digestive system intact. The amount of excess weight lost with VSG was better than with a lap band.

Less risk of complications with the sleeve, similar amount of weightloss, less restriction on kinds of foods you can eat long-term, less risk of malnutrition during pregnancy and old age.

I chose VSG because I had (have) a lot of medical problems. (Diabetes, high blood pressure, start of heart disease , high cholesterol ) You get the idea. I am over 50 and I figure at some poin,t hopefully years from now, I may have to take meds again and I wanted a stomach that can properly digest and metabolize them.

I treat children that are in a chronic malabsorptive state due to their disease process. To put my body in that same state on purpose is honestly frightening. I also understand that passing away morbidly obese and not attempting to do nothing about it is just not me. So VSG it is.

Portion Control is my biggest issue and i felt this was the best procedure for me. I also like that it keeps my digestive tract the most intact.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
