October 100 Mile Challange!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Great job on your totals for September and a huge thank you to Butterthebean for starting that post and challenging us all to challenge ourselves. We all wish BTB great success and a speedy recovery from his surgery. We know you will be watching and cheering us on. October is among us and with that comes a new challenge. 100 miles in 31 days! Walk, run, bike, whatever you do, log those miles and drink that water! Anyone who has been lurking in the shadows and watching last months challenge, now is your time to join us! It doesn't matter if you do 1 mile a day or 20, just go at your pace and have fun! For those of us who participated in last months challenge, I want to issue a personal challenge to add another 15 miles to what you did last month. After all, there is 1 more day in this month.

On a side note, this group has become very motivational for me as well as others. If you don't mind, let's let everyone know your real first name. If you would rather not and just want to go with your username that is perfectly fine. I will kick it off...my name is Ted. Good luck everyone and log those miles!!

Oh yay! I'm glad this thread was started. I go back to work on Wednesday and this will definitely motivate me to get some exercise in when I get home at night!

Doesn't bother me if people know my first name, it's Ella.

Glad to see this. I'll be watching and cheering.

My name is Patrick.....but more people call me Butter than anything. About the only person that calls me Patrick is the missus.....and it usually means I'm in trouble.

Thanks for suggesting this Ted, good goal.

I'm joining too, will be shocked if I can do 100 but I intend to do whatever I can. My name is Urvashi (rhymes with Hershey). Or you can call me by my Starbucks name which is Gracie, my dogs name. I got tired of spelling Urvashi :)

Welcome aboard to all the new faces! Glad to have you. Just go at your pace. This is not a race or a competition. Just a friendly challenge that Butter started and I just want to continue because it helped me so much to see everyone's progress and see my own. It is very motivational!

I am in! Hopefully I will have my surgery in November and this will be a great way to get ready for it. I think everyone can probably guess my name and the state I live in. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
