October 100 Mile Challange!

This comment might be in way left field but I need to ask... do any of you use compression garments for stomach arms or legs? Like the runners sleeves or runner compression pants...spanks anything.... do they help?

Shannon

Great question and yes.....up until now I've been wearing one of these.

I won't have to wear it again thankfully....but it has made all the difference. It stays in place and held my biggest problem area in place while running. The first couple of times it seemed uncomfortable but I got used it is very quickly. It became no big deal very quickly.

Yes, most of the time I wear Assets. They are a form of Spanx. I ALWAYS exercise with it on and I always wear one when I am out. At home I sometimes wear it. The ones I have are light so they aren't too bad to wear during exercise but I cannot wait until the day I have plastics and don't have to wear them anymore!

Doesn't sound like much as a challenge!

I will admit biking (even mountain) is a lot easier than walking and running the 100 miles :D

Hello there...well I walked 2.35 miles and rode the recumbent bike for 4 miles today. That puts my total at 12.17 miles so far.

I learned a good lesson today...you get what you pay for. I was looking at a Trek mountain bike. I decide to save money and go with the Mongoose brand from Walmart instead. Well, that was a joke. Piece if junk and didn't fit my 6'2" frame. Well that is what I get. So I took that back today and went and bought the Trek like I should have to begin with. I get to pick it up Monday...being assembled brand new out of the box! Woo Hoo!!!

I took my bike in for servicing and ended up trading it in on a new bike for my 75 pound reward. Going to use it for cross training as I increase my running mileage.

So far this month:

Run: 8 (goal 60)

Walk: 7 (goal 40)

Bike: 0 (goal 50)

Total: 15

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
