WOMEN (might be TMI for men)

Recommended Posts

Ladies. I have a silly and embarrassing question. :omg:

I am self pay, went thru seminar, consultation w/ doc, etc... (all preliminary goodies). I was thrilled to get my surgery date. Over the weekend I have realized it is right about the time I will be on my cycle. Can you believe the timing? Do you know if that is a problem with the surgery? Not that he will be operating in that area, but still, I am unsure. Any women have any insight on this? I feel like such a dork for asking, be need the banders to throw in their two cents. Thanks!

It wasn't an issue for me. I lucked out and I wasn't having my TOM then. I have seen other posts about this very subject here on LBT and it seems to be a non-issue for most women. If you are on your TOM they may ask that you wear a pad instead of a tampon but other than that you should be fine!

I started the day after my surgery... wasn't supposed to...guess it was stress, anyhoo was fine. Just really hard to bend and put in tampons LOL!!

I was more concerned they might ask me to change my surgery date. Hoping to avoid that....guess I will be uncomforable either way; TOM and surgery - ha!

This has been asked many times. The answer is always "no problem", and that they will get you by with a large pad and granny panties. :o

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
