IdahoGirl32 89 Posted September 29, 2013 I have been really worried about having complications after my surgery in November! I came across this website and thought I'd share. You can enter your stats and some health info and it will tell you the risk of your surgery. When entering the surgery type, just type "sleeve" and it'll pop up. http://riskcalculator.facs.org
IdahoGirl32 89 Posted September 29, 2013 Ack! I meant to post this in the pre-op section. Can I move it?
Italiancurves 117 Posted September 29, 2013 While I apreciate your concern, and it's always good to educate yourself on pros and cons and risk factors... I myself have read all the complication stats I wanna read. I've come to the conclusion in life that EVERYTHING we do has risks, let alone surgery (all types). I am 100% committed to having the VSG surgery done in 5 wks so I'm not even going to read that link. I would recommend that you search for links Re: the dangers Nd risks associated with being obese! I'm hoping and praying for no complications... But whatever the outcome, I'm ready to do it and move forward with my life. Only you can decide what's right for you though. Best wishes! Italiancurves 117 Posted September 29, 2013 Oh.... I see what that is. It's a risk assessment. Well I tried it, but couldn't get the procedure type to register. Oh well.
IdahoGirl32 89 Posted September 29, 2013 It would be absolutely foolish not to consider the risks and complications for any surgery. Particularly since certain conditions increase the risk of complications, and complications are something you have to be prepared for, emotionally and logistically (money, work, family support, etc.) Feel free not to click on the link, but I'm not sure how you gathered from my post that I wasn't aware of the risks of obesity. Clearly I am, or I wouldn't have researched, considered, and scheduled surgery. You can "pray" for no complications all you want, but it doesn't do anybody any good not to have a realistic idea of the chances of developing a complication from this, or any other, procedure.
